Head coach Dan Steele has signed a group of student-athletes that have totaled nearly 30 state championships combined in their high school careers.
Cedar Falls, Iowa – University of Northern Iowa head track and field coach Dan Steele has announced his recruiting class for the 2011 season. The group includes several student-athletes who won multiple state championships in high school, as well as impact transfers from other levels of collegiate competition.
Ryan Newtoff competed for Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, Ill., twice placing at the Illinois High School State Meet. He took second place in 2010 in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.58, missing out on a championship by only seven thousandths of a second. Newtoff bounced back in June and won the title in the 400-meter hurdles at the 2010 Midwest Senior Spotlight Meet with a time of 53.87.
