Luke Junk’s meet record in the 800-meter run highlighted five first-place finishes by the Galesburg High School boys and girls track teams at the University High Invitational on Saturday.
Junk’s time of 1 minute, 59.87 seconds bested the meet record of 1:59.95 he set last year. Junk also joined Josh Thomas , Will Remmes and Beau Salsman on the Silver Streaks’ 4×400 relay, which won in 3:35.89. Thomas also won the 400 in :52.41.
Bailee Ricketts took first in the boys high jump at 6 feet. Teammate Justin Davidson tied Ricketts’ height but finished second because Ricketts had more successful jumps.
The Galesburg girls team had a 1-2 finish in the shot put as Amy Blucker won with a throw of 35-7. Myra Diggins’ throw of 35-0 was good for second.
