MEET NAME: IVC INVITATIONAL
DATE: 3-6-10
TIMING: FULLY AUTOMATIC – ADKINSTRAK TIMING MEET RESULTS
MEET REVIEW
This is always a great meet to attend for several reasons. The facilities alone attracts many teams just for the opportunity to compete on the track that hosts the Indoor Top Times Meet. The format remains classless so the class A schools compete right with the AA and AAA schools. Coach Bob Prout worked very hard to put on a quality meet and went to the effort to get FAT Timing from Adkinstrak. The results of his labor provided the showcase for Central Illinois teams to entertain the spectators at Shirk.
- Decatur St. Teresa Impressive – For a school without a track it is difficult to train the technical events, but Coach Todd Vohland makes the best with what he has and his efforts have helped put the framework to be a very competitive force this season. The Bulldogs have already made a name for themselves in the distance circuit, but their ability to score across the board in multiple events will them allow additional scoring scenarios.
- McLean County Distance Queen - 2008 saw the graduation of Bloomington’s Ashley Verplank, 2009 Downs Tri Valley’s Stephanie Brown, and in 2010 we will graduate Normal Community’s Marie O’Leary and Bloomington Central Catholic’s Kelly Curran. The reigns appear to fall in the hands of Normal Community’s Freshman Carly Pederson who opened with a 5:23.08 in the mile. Julie James (El Paso-Gridley) in neighboring Woodford County will keep the Central Illinois competition honest.
- Kaitlin Knowles has power – Her 200m Race was one of the most impressive races of the day. Very powerful runner who could absolutely dominate the 400 if she has the cardio behind her.
- Flying Dragon Intrasquad – Sarah Bell, Emily Grove, Taylor Kirby, Brittany Hull, Kelsey Kinley, Jessica Wanthal – Central Illinois has seen the works of Coach Mike Cockerham and his development of vaulters in the Flying Dragon Program. Look for a feature article about the Flying Dragons this week!
- Mahomet Relays – Mahomet ran two IPTT leading performances in the 4 X800 and 4 X 400
