Knowing how far she was willing to go helped narrow Dani Bunch’s college choices. “I knew from the beginning I didn’t want to go far away,” said the state shot put record holder from Mahomet-Seymour High School, who chose Purdue over Iowa, Indiana and Kentucky.
Bunch, whose 2008 best of 51 feet, ¾ inch ranked third nationally, hopes to sign a national letter of intent to accept a full scholarship on Feb. 4.
The reigning Class AA state champion, whose state meet record is 49-4¾, also had home visits last summer from Oklahoma State, Auburn, Illinois, Kansas and Wisconsin.
